A new surveillance centre using artificial intelligence is set to open in Nice by the end of 2026, providing round-the-clock monitoring for smaller towns and villages across the Alpes-Maritimes. The Departmental Commission for Intermunicipal Cooperation unanimously approved the creation of the Departmental Supervision Centre on Monday, 26 October, with 151 of the department's 163 municipalities eligible to join the scheme. Located at the Departmental Administrative Centre (Cadam) in Nice, the facility aims to help municipalities that lack the staff and technical resources to monitor CCTV footage continuously, particularly overnight. The project represents an initial investment of €1.7 million, with annual operating costs estimated at €500,000.
